Project Overview
For the last few years we have worked with Solvay on their JEC World exhibition stand in Paris. Designing new and exciting graphics for a variety of stand shapes and sizes each year. 2019s JEC saw us design graphics using a futuristic network as a running theme.
Solvay is a big name in the composite industry so it is important that the stand makes a big impact. To draw people in, the stand designers ensured there was ample wall space for us to add graphics to, a large feature wall behind a long bar area, plus plenty of seating and a number of meeting rooms.
The Design
Each year we work hard to find a new style for the stand, to help keep things fresh but also keeping it within Solvay’s brand style. The stand designers supplied us with the full specification of the stand introducing angled, off-set panels and long vertical pendant tube lighting giving a very innovative feel. This allowed us to start thinking about the wall graphics. With Solvay being at the forefront of composite material technology, “futuristic” was the 2019 buzzword for the stand. The brief also called for involvement of a sci-fi esk network with icons. Taking the brief forward we found a range of high impact images for each of the sectors Solvay work within and layered them up with a network graphic and technology related icons to fit within this years uniquely shaped wall panels. The graphic style developed for the stand was carried through all the other promotional elements.
As part of a well thought out stand, we created a range of promotional material to boost awareness of Solvay’s presence. We designed a mix of printed and digital elements that included e-mail signatures, a variety of invitations, scrolling adverts for outside the hall, as well as a magazine advert, exhibition product cards and directional footprints for the floor of the hall. Plus ensuring all product brochures are up to date and printed in time.
With this years stand having such huge wall panels, the biggest being a 10-metre wide feature wall behind the bar, it was imperative that the images translated well on a big scale and that quality wasn’t compromised. As always we liaised with the stand builders and photographers to ensure that the images / graphics were produced to a high standard and that everything went smoothly at each stage of the process. Debbie flew out to Paris to see the completed stand, to ensure graphics were as expected and to make sure the client was happy.
After a successful exhibition Solvay left us a brilliant 5 star Google review. They had this to say:
“I would absolutely recommend The New Fat. I have worked with them for more than 8 years across a wide range of deliverables, from print to web to large-scale graphics for trade shows. They always follow our briefs and meet our deadlines. They are creative and help us enhance our designs. I have trusted them with some of our most important projects and didn’t regret it! Thank you Debbie, Suze and the team!
