NGO Forest Coalition Infographics

NGO Forest Coalition approached us with an exciting project that would see them partner with multiple nationwide and global charitable organisations. The aim was to highlight the impact of rainforest destruction on the planet and communities.

The initial brief
To create 11 illustrative infographics to work alongside accompanying text - highlighting community plights and to prompt change. To later incorporate these into a bold and informative leaflet that will be distributed to government and other elected officials.

Creating the icons
From the start we wanted the infographics to be bold and eye catching. Taking the complicated information provided and simplify it into a set of short, snappy and enlightening graphics. Our design team researched, sketched and illustrated multiple options for each key message, refining these down into final artwork.

Once the infographics were finalised we set about placing them into the leaflet that was designed to be full of impact, with carefully chosen imagery and text. We looked at a few different leaflet layouts and decided on a roll fold, giving each essential point and infographic an individual section. Communicating crucial facts as the user rolled the leaflet out panel by panel.

Ooh actually we need a website!
On approval of the icons and leaflet we were asked “Would it be possible to create an e-shot and a website within a week!”. Now, we would prefer not to be inundated with these sort of last minute requests - but on this occasion the whole team pulled out all the stops, working extra hours and over the weekend to ensure the website was designed, developed and online with content for the launch.

Translating all the information from print into digital took a bit of thought. Creating an animated slider for the infographics integrated them onto the website nicely. The new site is fully responsive and administrable and set for future expansion.

Spread the word
The whole idea of the website is to raise awareness, share the stories and spread the word so there is a strong focus on social media within the design of the pages. The twitter feed displays posts pulled from specific hash tags - from partner organisations and related topics.

Each infographic was resized for posting on social media - ensuring full impact and consistency was achieved on the launch day.

A design team which can handle print and web
Consistency and great design was key to this project as we were not only aiming to please our client but also the other 24 organisations involved. The end result was great, with our client and the other partner organisations very pleased with the outcome of the whole project.

Client feedback
“Wow! The website looks fantastic, thank you so much to The New Fat team, I’ve been raving about you to anyone who will listen, I would definitely recommend your services”
